WOODCRAFT
Please enjoy a free download of the digital book, Woodcraft, a collection of eco-folktales and science art activities, for ages 9 and older. The book shares traditional ecological knowledge (TEK), and is co-authored by a group of migrant women, designers, artists, and community scientists. Thanks to an Anonymous Was A Woman Environmental Art Grant administered by New York Foundation for the Arts, the book was created through a community storytelling process led by Sara Angel Guerrero-Mostafa, supported by the community science organization Bio Bus, and Emerald Isle Immigration Center.

Gracias a la beca Anonymous Was A Woman Environmental Art Grant, administrado por la Fundación de los Artes en Nueva York, el libro se creó a través de un proceso de narración comunitaria dirigido por Sara Angel Guerrero-Mostafa, con el apoyo de la organización de ciencia comunitaria Bio Bus y el centro de inmigracion La Esmeralda, en Queens, New York.
Dr. Sara Angel Guerrero-Mostafa is an arts administrator, educator, curator, and writer. She has designed over 5,000 public experiences, ranging from media archaeology exhibitions to RPG museum games and community data labs. Sara designed a community curation method that activates spaces like museums, libraries, hospitals, and arts centres globally. Her work is informed by ethnography, immigration studies, and critical pedagogy. She holds a PhD in Art Theory (University of the Arts London), an MA in Education, and a BA in Sociology and Women’s Studies. Sara founded the New New Yorkers Program at the Queens Museum with immigrant communities, developed NYC’s first public media game lab at the Museum of the Moving Image, and established the first research-based annual art & design exhibition at the CCW Graduate School, as well as the first ongoing seminar on Latin American Art & Design at University of the Arts London. As the 2023-24 Community Curator-in-Residence at the Whale Arts Agency in Edinburgh, she hosted sound and forest baths in local council estate woodland. Her work, including leading the first media design exhibition and awards festival for creators on the autism spectrum, has been featured in the New York Times.
